Employment Preparation Services: South

Employment Preparation Services, North & South are responsible for the actual delivery of the Federal Title I Vocational Rehabilitation Services Program. The services are structured to assist consumers achieve their employment goals by providing training, assistive technology, supported employment and job placement support to eligible individuals.

Field staff of EPS also conduct eligibility determinations for applicants for services, and direct the provision of post-employment services for individuals who find jobs as a result of our services.

Mobility Evaluation Program (MEP)

This program provides evaluations to determine the minimum safe vehicle and equipment needs of DOR consumers who want to drive, and provides recommendations for modifying vehicles and drivers training. MEP also assists consumers to determine the wheelchair that best meets their vocational, personal, and physical needs. In addition to driving and wheelchair evaluations, MEP staff also provides passenger evaluations (for non-drivers), assistive technology consultations, and Rehabilitation Technology training to DOR staff through our Staff Development Section.

Community Resources Development

This section certifies community-based programs and provides technical consultation to those programs. It also administers grants to establish and improve community-based programs.

Centralized Services

This section provides staff support to the Deputy Director and technical assistance to the district offices. Section responsibilities include: case service expenditure tracking and budget monitoring; service and production trends and evaluation; regulation development, monitoring reviews of field clerical operations for effectiveness and compliance, staff and consumer grievance oversight and review; and analysis of legislation affecting Department operations.

Medical Services

This Section is responsible for providing technical advice and assistance to management on policies related to the medical aspects of the vocational rehabilitation program. The Section serves as liaison to statewide health provider agencies and organizations, and it oversees quality assurance in the delivery of medical services to consumers, including monitoring standards and adherence to regulations, administrative procedures and medical procedure codes and rates. The Section supervises medical consultants throughout the State, who provide medical consultation on individual cases upon request of rehabilitation counselors.
