DOR Employment Preparation Services North / Central
Employment Preparation Services, North & South are responsible for the actual delivery of the Federal Title I Vocational Rehabilitation Services Program. The services are structured to assist consumers achieve their employment goals by providing training, assistive technology, supported employment and job placement support to eligible individuals.
Field staff of EPS also conduct eligibility determinations for applicants for services, and direct the provision of post-employment services for individuals who find jobs as a result of our services.

Workforce Development
The Workforce Development Section (WDS) develops and coordinates linkages with the business community in order to increase meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. These linkages with public and private sector employers help to increase the awareness of the business community on the benefits of hiring individuals with disabilities. WDS works collaboratively with the business community to develop strategies to increase the quantity and quality of employment of individuals with disabilities. WDS also provides employment information, resource materials, technical assistance and training to Department field staff for the successful implementation of local employment strategies. WDS bridges the gap between the business community and DOR's consumer base through the development and distribution of labor market information, employment trends, internship opportunities and access and accommodation information.

Collaborative Services
Collaborative Services is responsible for coordination of the Department's efforts with state and local education agencies, state and local mental health agencies and the Department of Developmental Services and Regional Centers. On the state level, the section coordinates planning, policy, and procedures for delivery of transition services to students with disabilities, who are consumers of the Department, with the California Department of Education and the Chancellor's Office of the California Community Colleges. Coordination of local cooperative programs with various agencies is also provided. These agencies include: mental health agencies, secondary education agencies, adult schools, Regional Occupational Centers and Programs, community colleges, state universities, Regional Centers and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) service agencies and programs.

Inter-Agency Linkages
The Inter-Agency Linkages unit establishes working relationships and partnerships with other agencies to assist in the provision of vocational rehabilitation services to disabled consumers. The unit monitors available resources from partner agencies, programs and comparable services. They are also a resource on Social Security Administration Work Incentives, the Workforce Investment Act, and other available consumer benefits and services.
Cooperative Education Programs
This unit addresses the area of transition from school to work for students with disabilities. Through the mechanism of third party contracting, funds are provided for disabled students who need unique vocationally oriented services. This unit contracts, monitors, and coordinates services with education agencies providing vocational services to students with disabilities.
Human Services Cooperative Programs
This unit works with the State Department of Mental Health to monitor contracts and coordinate the delivery of, and support for, vocational rehabilitation services to persons with psychiatric disabilities. Individuals with psychiatric disabilities are served through contracts between the Department of Rehabilitation and County Mental Health delivery systems.
