Older Blind Programs ($3.7 Million)

Title VII, Chapter 2 funds are awarded to provide services to visually impaired individuals age 55 and older in order to maintain a network of independent living core services programs for older persons with visual impairments in California to assist them to live independently.

Projects will include:

• Program development and improvement to stimulate independent living, empowerment and full inclusion of older individuals who are blind.
• Blindness/low vision training and skill building for professionals serving the older blind population.
• Vision/hearing loss training for consumers, and professionals serving the older blind.
• Reaching out to expand and enhance services in rural and other un-served and underserved areas.
