Specialized Services

Blind Field Services (BFS) - Rehabilitation Counselors for the Blind work with individuals who are blind or visually impaired to find educational and employment opportunities and to help them get a job.

Business Enterprises Program (BEP) - The BEP provides Department consumers, who are legally blind, opportunities to be trained in the operation of cafeterias, vending stands, and snack bars, with the ultimate goal of becoming independent food service professionals in California.

California Vendors Policy Committee (CVPC) - The CVPC Represents Blind Vendors who participate in the California State Department of Rehabilitation Business Enterprises Program

Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (DHHS) - Rehabilitation Counselors for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (RCDs) provide a wide range of vocational rehabilitation services to persons who are deaf, hard of hearing or late deafened. The RCDs are qualified as being proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) to ensure direct communication access with consumers who use ASL as their primary mode of communication.

Older Individuals who are Blind Program (OIB) - OIB provides services to visually impaired individuals age 55 and older to assist them to live independently in California.

Orientation Center for the Blind (OCB) - The OCB, located in Albany, CA, assists adults in adjusting to new vision disabilities by an immersion in a residential environment that is respectful, knowledgeable and empowering.
