Orientation Center for the Blind
The Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) operates the Orientation Center for the Blind (OCB). Located in Albany, CA, the OCB fosters independent living for blind or visually impaired adults through an immersion program in a residential environment.
This live-in, dorm style community has been enriching the lives of its residents for 48 years. We do this by providing a myriad of classes and programs designed to assist blind or visually impaired adults with transitioning back into society.
To ensure we continue to meet the needs of our consumers, the center recently underwent a complete renovation of its facilities as well as its training curriculum.

Fast Facts
Residential facilities are available for up to 36 students
Length of training is individualized to students' needs, but averages six to nine months
There is no cost to students for tuition, lodging and meals
Any DOR consumer who is blind or visually impaired may be considered for participation
