Governor Brown's NDEAM 2012 Proclamation

OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR
October 2012
Disability Employment Awareness
Since 1988, the nation has recognized the month of October as a time to acknowledge the contributions and skills that people with disabilities offer our workforce. Landmark legislation such as the Americans with Disabilities Act and state and federal executive orders have furthered efforts to increase their employment opportunities, independence and equality.
There are more than 1.9 million working-age Californians with disabilities that can play a positive role in our workforce and contribute to the well-being of our state. In a time when employment is so vital, it is important for employers to realize the benefits of providing job opportunities to persons with disabilities. By supporting the employment of these talented workers, organizations are not only contributing to employees' independence and equality, but also to the financial strength of the company.
All people deserve a chance to fulfill their professional goals, and this month, I call on all Californians to join me in recognizing the importance of their role in our shared future.
Sincerely,

EDMUND G. BROWN JR.
GOVERNOR EDMUND G. BROWN JR. - SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA 95814 - (916) 445-2841
